On September 8th, we were fortunate to have David Hardwick from Soil Land Food present a fun, interactive workshop based on assessing and exploring soil health as well as key concepts surrounding regenerative agriculture at ‘Kilderry’ at Tullakool.
This workshop was funded through the Capacity Building facet of the Wakool Agri-Innovation Program, undertaken by WMLIG to assist local area farmers and businesses to explore diversification opportunities, innovate, and value-add to their existing businesses. The event was funded by the Australian Government as part of the Murray-Darling Basin Economic Development Program. We also had Soil Health Coach Luke Harrington from Re-Gen Farming Deniliquin present as well, sharing his great knowledge of products supporting farmers improving soil health regardless of their farming systems. Participants brought in their own soil samples and we all learnt how to ‘read’ the soils and test for specific information about what’s going on under the surface!
It was a great day had by all, and I believe everybody came away from the day having learnt valuable information to take back and apply to their own programs. We would like to thank David Hardwick, Luke Harrington, as well as the Chalmers family for allowing us to host the event at their property.
