About the program
Are you a farmer, producer or land owner in the Wakool area or surrounds looking to value add or explore the opportunities to diversify your farming operations? The Business Development Program (BDP) can support you to develop your new or extended venture.
The BDP is designed to help you innovate, start a new venture or take your farming business to the next level. The program is open to all producers and residents in the Wakool region and surrounds and is fully subsidised by the Australian Government under the Murray–Darling Basin Economic Development Program. Round 2 of the BDP will be focusing on value-adding opportunities whether that is farm-to-plate, investigating ways to utilise extra or wasted produce or any other way that you can elevate or diversify your existing business,

Be part of a network of positive people who want to investigate possibilities and explore their potential to provide an alternative or additional income stream for their farm or business and contribute to a prosperous local community.
Program Overview
The BDP is facilitated by Regionality founder Rose Wright. Rose and her team help producers understand alternate pathways to market, to embrace opportunities, and build resilience through diversification and value adding beyond the farm gate.

- Understand your focus or purpose, core values and a framework for business decision making;
- Identify your spare capacity in terms of your property, product or IP;
- Refine and ground truth your business concept;
- Explore fundamental innovation related business concepts and processes;
- Assist you in understanding the farm to consumer value chain, developing your brand framework and marketing strategy;
- Guide you through the key considerations in assessing the financial viability of your proposed venture;
- Help you to understand the relevant compliance and regulatory requirements and;
- Connect you with key people in industry, government agencies and programs that can support and assist you in the development of your business.
