BackgroundAs a result of growing interest from our community regarding the state of the Group of Forests and with the purpose of developing a collective community vision, a series of events were organised from December 2020-April 2021.
Four community events were scheduled for this to take place. An introductory seminar, two field days to the Koondrook-Perricoota Forest, and a visioning workshop were held locally. All perspectives of local community members were recorded and together, with the facilitation our consultants Dan Hutton and Dr John Conallin, the community came together to brainstorm themes and a collective vision for their forest. Prior to the visioning session, registered attendees were provided with some pre reading material and a survey from the community was collected asking for their specific areas of interest (e.g. native wildlife, timber, flooding etc.) as well as their vision for the forest. |
Our community's visionThe visioning session was attended by 40 interested members of community. The group referred to as Friends of KP produced this vision for their forest:
"A healthy working forest where native species can flourish, and where local communities can connect and co-manage the forest for future generations." |
