What is the purpose of the survey?
Amy Lolicato, Local Landcare Coordinator (LLC) and Jeanette Walker, Customer Support Officer at WMLIG are conducting a comprehensive survey of the WMLIG membership base and stakeholders. The information gained from this survey along with stakeholder group meetings will be used to guide resourcing for the Landcare Coordinator role as well as what services, events and training WMLIG focus their efforts on.

What are we asking you to do?
Spend 10 minutes to complete this survey with open, honest feedback. This will help us to allocate resourcing in the areas of natural resource management (NRM), agricultural productivity and community capacity building that our members identify as a need. Your honest feedback will also help us in understanding where improvements can be made. Over the next month you may also receive a phone call from Jeanette or a request for a personal meeting with Amy to discuss some of the questions in more depth.

Who is WMLIG and what is the LLC role?
WMLIG is a non-profit Landcare group based in Barham, NSW and covers an area of 750,000ha across the footprint of the old Wakool Shire. WMLIG has a membership base of approximately 150 people. WMLIG’s aim is to contribute to a viable, capable and adaptable community by promoting sustainable farm and land management practices that deliver improved agricultural productivity, sustainability and ecosystem services. WMLIG provides support to landcare and producer groups in the western part of the region through capacity building assistance and development and support of projects and activities. Currently, the group employs a total of 7 staff consisting of 4 part time staff and 3 full time staff in addition to contractors as required.
The LLC role is hosted by WMLIG. Funding for the role is via a partnership between the NSW Government and Landcare NSW. Key outcomes of the LLC program is to empower the local community to:
  • Stimulate local community engagement and participation in Landcare;
  • Deliver NRM, farm productivity and community program outcomes;
  • Support community participation in practice change adoption;
  • Support participation in on-ground delivery of NRM and sustainable, productive agricultural activities;
  • Support skill and capacity building to attract external funding.

What will be done with the survey information?
The information collated from the surveys will be used to create a document with detailed information on the wants and needs of the WMLIG members and stakeholders. Individual feedback will be deidentified, even if not already selected as so in the online survey. This information will then be used to guide the allocation and focus of resourcing for the Landcare Coordinator role as well as more generally in WMLIG.
