About this event

The theme of World Wetlands Day 2023 was Wetland Restoration.

We celebrated by hosting a Yabby Festival suited to the whole family on Sunday 26th February. A bus load of community members met at Murray Connect in Barham and we headed out to our favourite Yabby spot in the Koondrook-Perricoota Forest, the Pollack Wetland.

Community were treated to a chat from industry experts on the importance of restoring our wetlands, recreational fishing compliance. Many a story about the best way to catch and cook yabbies were shared.

The catch of the day was then brought back to Murray Connect for a light lunch.
